Fresh Air
The air at Outdoor World RV Park is still fresh and clean and pure, away from all the smoke of the recent and ongoing fires. I look forward to driving up this Friday for my usual weekend in the mountains. How often do you think 'I can't wait to leave San Diego'? Should be a good weekend for a hike to the backcountry. Warm days, a campfire at night, snuggle under the quilts to sleep.

Wildfire Musings
We are all praying for the wind to die and for rain. It is a terrible and scary thing when your world is out-of-control. Our eleven year old has been worried since the fires started. "what would we do if ...." is the common question. And 'can WE die of smoke' [being in the middle of San Diego]. So what we decided is to make a plan. If X happens, then we will do this. If Y happens, then we will do that. Tell me, what plans you have made and if you shared them with your children.
All the while, Dimitri is up at the park keeping things together in the high winds. But what can one do against the winds, sometimes clocking 80mph. The park shows signs of the high winds with a huge tree uprooting between the space 7 & 8 but missing any vital thing. The west fence blew over close to the pool as it was not cemented in and and only intended to be temporary. Of course many branches and leaves have been strewn over the park. We are not complaining! Oh, no! We feel blessed that the fires have not started East of us. Dimitri put the generator for the store but the balance of the park has no electricity. If it is like four years ago, we will be without electricity for several days. Judging from the news reports a lot of the major lines and relay stations have burned. Tell me, what would you do if you had no electricity [or TV, no computer, no telephones for several days?
I would be interested in your opinions. Tell me.......

Hello Friends of Outdoor World:
Fires seem to be all West of Boulevard area and the wind is blowing West. There is no electricity at the Park and no phone service. We have been in touch with Sheriff Judy and other than high winds at the park and no electricity, all is well. If you are concerned about your rigs you may call us on our cell-phones and we will tell you our current information. Dimitri is 619-992-1569 and Sharon is 619-818-8575. There is a high wind warning from Alpine to Imperial County line right now so travel is not advised for high profile vehicles.

Comments like these are being heard again and again. While every site has it's own special charm, many people get attached to 'their' site. Booking early is a good idea.
We are trying to make this the best and most affordable RV Park in San Diego County.
We'd be interested in your comments.

The Truth about a Registered Sex Offender...
"What do you think about this story?"
"July 28, 2007
The Truth about a Registered Sex Offender & the Circumstances of his Case……
1. We are helping Mr. H. to move and he will be out within a few days
2. We found out about this when we received a call from an angry girlfriend of Mr. H.
3. We asked Mr. H. to tell us what the circumstances were and here is his story:
30 years ago, Mr. H, went to a beach party. He was just 20 years old and out for a good time with his friends. During those days, most people who went to beach parties went to drink and have sex if they could. He says that his friend said she was 18. So they were kissing and rolling in the sand when the police came. And arrested everyone. And then found out she was under 14. What we do know is that people who were at these parties expected beer and sex. She did not press charges but he did break the law. What we don’t know is about the others, whether there were more underage kids, if others were charged with similar charges.
Yes, what Mr. H did was against the law, he did plead guilty, and was on probation.
No. For 30 years there have been NO complaints. He did marry, and have children and grandchildren.
Yes. We verified this information with a phone call to the officials and with our local sheriff.
Yes. We are concerned about the safety of OUR child as well about the safety of all children AND adults in our park. We assessed the risk and determined that while it looked safe, that we would watch out and be aware.
And we have, and there have been no problems.
We told Mr H. that he has to move and why. After being here for 8 years. After observing his very proper behavior. Do you know what he did when we told him? He said he understands economics, and then he cried.
The penalties being young and stupid. This is his story.
Sharon
PS. He has no money, lives on $700 disability and must find a tire for his trailer, and a 5th wheel truck to pull it, and the money for deposits wherever he is going. We are helping him and he will be out as soon as possible."

Are Border Patrol Auxilliary Patriotic or What?
Recently there has been a lot of local activity of the Border Patrol Auxilliary group. They have been using the park as a gathering point for the last few weeks. A lot of them have also been staying very close by while they go to their assign monitoring spots. This weekend we expect a media blitz to cover their current activities. No one else at the park seems to mind their presence. Would like to know if any of our visitors have any comments about their presence or activities.
Anonymous said... We stayed in the park during this particular weekend and had no problems. The group was friendly and very quite as well as respectful of other campers. One "Border Patrol Auxilliary" stayed next to our campsite instead of with the larger group and we invited him over for happy hour. We were fascinated by his stories and exeriences as a Border Patrol Auxilliary. The next day we offered him hot coffee and he shared with us his "findings" while out on the midnight patrol. Our conversations led to the exchanging of our respective personal emailaddresses and we look forward to hearing from our new "friend".

After reading these blogs about the Border Patrol Auxilliary staying here, we will DEFINITELY come visit over the next 2 days! THANK YOU Minutemen for trying to protect our country while our own government (Both Republicans and Democrats) does nothing but incentivize illegals to break our laws and illegally cross the border and then reward them with free medical care, free education and even welfare! And to add insult to injury, the LONGER an illegal has broken our laws the better chance we will grant them amnesty! We live in an Upside-Down, illogically-thinking country. When we visit this weekend, I hope my RV site is surrounded by Border Patrol Auxilliary! They are the TRUE American heros.

Cart Trails
People are saying that the new cart tracks cut in the back are somewhat challenging. What do you think? And what do you drive?
Permits signed!
Hey, after a mere 4 years in attempts at the pool, we have good news. They were signed in on Friday. Inspection is to be coming today, Tuesday, and then if all goes well the gunnite will be shot this week. Then we countdown the days to jumping in!

Bunkhouses
After many inquiries, we decided to bite the bullet! And create a bunkhouse. It will be for up to eight people, bringing their sleeping bags and cooking at the outside kitchen. Restrooms and hot showers nearby. If for a group of friends, they all have to know each other's habits - might have to bring earplugs to block the personal nighttime sounds. This would be the ideal setting for people to come camping who have no trailers. We are thinking scouts, friends, youth groups, good friends, small groups for retreat like small companies or women's groups, really good friends.
This is the first of several that will become a old western town It is exciting to create something from nothing. Hopefully, ready in three weeks.
PSST someone saw a pair of lynxes run across a site close to the bunkhouse. I

Pool Update

As of this morning, folks, the holdup at the County has been resolved. The next step is a couple of over the counter signatures, that will be done on Monday. Then Tuesday we call for inspection! Then the gunniters [is that a word] will be up this week to have a blast! We will be seeing real progress.
Of course there are soooo many details. Like concreting, and fencing, and plastering, and pump equipment housing. All in the final phases just awaiting their time.

Another change
The county in it's infinite wisdom has required something new and so....we wait. More info when I get it!
Saturday, April 28, 2007
Weather
The great motivator Today it was 80 degrees, a beautiful summer day. Probably we will see some cooler May days - and June days. It was, however, absolutely perfect sitting around in the shade.
Permits
One last little change and the County Permit will be completed. Then the inspection will be called immediately, the GUNNITE! Moving forward.

Happenings 2007
Well, the cart/hiking trail has been cut out of the back country at Outdoor World. We now have a loop that goes up the center of the property to the northern fenceline and turn West, toward the ocean, high country views, and down into the Stargazing Plateau, then East parelling the campground. Again proceeding North toward the fenceline and turn East toward the back property line, follow the track on down to the back riverbed, then up around the hill and grove of oak trees, bypassing the brickhouse private encampment, over to the road and back to the main Park. It will flow in a figure eight and we have ordered directional signs to keep everyone going a single direction. Should be fun!

Swimming Pool - Goal by Memorial Day
Pool Progress:
Last week, the diggers were out and dug the holes for the pool and spa. Yipee!
[After three hard years, a couple of low-down, underhanded, pool contractors, the County permit process!]
Today, the plumbers are putting in the lines for pumps and filters.
